Supporting Higher Education

In 2014, the AWSWO conducted a survey under the name of “Youth and their Access to Higher Education”, unfortunately, the findings showed unexpected result. Survey identified that due to lack of confidence of families on higher education sector and common classes with boys, majority of families do not allow their daughters after high school graduation to join universities. In addition, majority of youths failed to achieve higher education due to economic constraints, security situation and internal displacement and had to illegally migrate to other countries.

In order to rectify the situation, find solution to the unending problem and prevent illegal immigration of youth to other countries. AWSWO has managed to sign the MoU with over 75 local private universities, institutes and social organizations to pave the way for the youth to receive higher education with the least expense.

AWSWO is in verge of establishing a network of young energetic students studying in AWSWO partner universities.

However, based on agreements between AWSWO and Partner  Universities and Institutes, to solve families’ concerns and to create reliable atmosphere of confidence between families and higher education institutes, separate classes for girls are being arranged and created on certain times.

This program is designed to encourage youths toward Higher Education Sector of Afghanistan, paving them ways for their employment and preventing them from illegal immigration to abroad.

AWSWO aim is to pave the way for the youths to further continue their higher education with lowest possible cost and providing them employment opportunities according to their fields of interest. Furthermore, AWSWO under this program provides different practical capacity building trainings and fellowship programs to enrolled students and its purpose is to give them clear vision about their future professional life.

AWSWO covered below provinces under this program:

  • Kabul
  • Herat
  • Daikondi
  • Nangarhar
  • Mazar-e-Shareef
  • Samangan

Currently, AWSWO is trying to build a positive relationship between the higher education sector and the job market. AWSWO signed a long term MoU with Afghanistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) to provide on-the-job trainings and internship opportunities for students graduating from partner universities. Its purpose is to make it possible for the students to have clear vision of their future professional life.

Our aim through this program is to positively influence the quality of higher education in private universities, therefore, every semester, the topper of the semesters are identified and offered merit based full scholarship to create a positive competition among the referred students.
